On Monday the 20th of September, over 90 St John Fisher students performed their magical story "The Rainbow Fish". When we arrived at the Newcastle Civic Theatre, we went into the auditorium and had a warm up session. After a few loud and well known songs, everyone was hyped up for abig day. After the party, we had a breifing of the day's calendar. After going up 2 lots of stairs we reached our "bananas" level which had our dressing rooms in it. We'd dumped our bags and looked around and it was all very grand.
Now came the activities. They included 'tunnel ball', 'captain ball' and 'stuck in the mud' in the park across the road. Afterwards, it was time for our rehersal. We went out onto the big stage. We had two practises and they were both good. Lunch and dinner came shortly after and during dinner, my nerves began to erupt. Everyone looked great with their costumes and make-up on. The hours crept up on us and I was praying that my aerial ell didn't get tangled.
Then Jess, our co-host went out onto the stage. Then the audience clapped and the curtains rose and our soundtrack began. As soon as I went on stage I felt great. Everything went right. Then the finale came and everyone was smiling and doing the moves right. It was over and I felt so relieved when I heard the crowd cheering. Our other speakers Amy, Madi, Ashleigh and James came onto the stage and presented their speeches. After everybody's performances were done, they presented the awards. Our school received 3 awards.
Overall, I personally think the whole day was great and the performance was fantastic. The highlights of the day were probably when we were getting ready with our costumes and make-up, the performance and the photos afterwards. After Rock Eisteddfod, I feel more confident and know a bit more about myself. My feelings about the experience, wow, cool, great, magical and I'll definitely do it in high school.
