St John Fisher Catholic School at Tumbi Umbi commenced in 1988 with a composite class of Kindergarten-Year 1 children. It has subsequently grown and continues to grow each year.

The parish centre at St John Fisher forms part of St Cecilia's Wyong Parish Community within the Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay. The school has been developed through the generosity of the faithful of Wyong and is an important part of the parish faith community. It is in the education of the faith that the school is able to support parents and parish in the development of the religious education of the community.

The school is administered by the Parish of Wyong and is under the guidance of the Parish Priest, Father Pepin Jayaraj msfs. The majority of children are from a mainly Anglo-Saxon background in the middle socio-economic range. There is an even ratio of boys and girls.

Our School Motto

"Growing in Faith and Knowledge"

Our School Logo

This is our school logo. The spine
of the book and the upright beam
of the cross represent the Path
the children will walk through
life. We rely on the teachings
of Christ to help us walk
this path.

The Book represents
the books of learning
of faith and knowledge.

The Tree represents the
growth of the child,
spiritually, cognitatively,
physically and aesthetically.
The tree also represents
strength and shelter. We hope
the children will grow strong in
faith and knowledge and that
they will always share the
community spirit experienced
when sharing shelter, the shelter
offered by their school and their
church.

A school is for Children who come
to learn and play and to develop into caring and informed citizens.

General Information

The teaching staff is comprised of the Principal and fourteen classroom teachers. Part-time staff includes Learning Support Teacher, PDHPE Teacher, Literacy/Librarian and four teacher and clerical assistants. We also have one full-time School Assistant

The Principal is non-teaching. The Assistant Principal and Religious Education Co-coordinator have executive release. Ninety minutes release from face to face teaching is provided through the PDHPE and Literacy/Library Teachers.

The school is located on a 2.5 hectare property with fourteen classrooms, an office block and a Mass Centre. This year we have completed a building project that now sees us with a new Administration Block, Staffroom and Library as well as two refurbished classrooms.

The school is supported by an active Parents and Friends Association and a School Board. The role of the Board is one of stewardship - developing the school in all its facets 'in trust' for the faith community.

The School Strategic Plan

We have recently completed the development of our five year strategic plan. Our annual plan has been drawn from the Strategic Plan and runs from mid-year to the following mid-year. The School Board has also developed its annual plan in support of the school's Strategic Plan. We are currently focusing on the development of a Learning Culture within the school that takes into account the teaching learning cycle ensuring development of reflective practices.
